A Recommended Resource for Learning Cantonese

Anyone interested in has probably already realized that resources are quite limited since the emphasis is on . This can be quite frustrating.

The challenge increases with the using a non Latin alphabet and the fact that Cantonese is a tonal language, meaning that different tones, distinguish words that would otherwise be pronounced identically.

Given the challenges in finding material to learn the Cantonese language, encountering a noteworthy course is important for any student.

The Foreign Service Institute , a department within of theU.S. State Department created a series of courses aimed at providing its overseas diplomatic personnel with practical Cantonese language skills.

The course uses guided imitation as its teaching methodology. The original course was divided into two levels. The first is currently available.

The ultimate goal of the course is to speak the Cantonese language easily. The course provides the student with all basic patterns of the Cantonese language by imitating the speakers in the audio portion. This is coupled with vocabulary memorization which allows the student to manipulate the basic phrases covered and create a large number of sentences.

Another course to consider is the Euro Talk, Talk Now Cantonese course. Designed for beginners who want to start learning the Cantonese language as soon as possible, the course is especially beneficial for those aiming at the basics for business, vacation, or perhaps meeting a friend.
