The importance of the Arabic language in the Islamic world is tied to it being the language of the Koran .

Islamic conquests beginning in the 7th. Century CE carried the language beyond its original borders replacing the previous languages of the Middle East and North Africa.

The spread of the Arabic language has created a number of important regional dialects. While each country could arguably present its own dialect, some reflect much larger populations.

For some the easiest breakdown is between Eastern Arabic (which includes the Arabic of the Levant as well as that spoken in Syria and Iraq) and Egyptian Arabic .

This is not to discount other important dialects like Moroccan, Libyan, Saudi, Yemenite, and others, but simply reflects two major divisions found among Arabic speakers.
