Breton is part of the Brythonic language branch, and the Breton language appears to have origins dating to the end of the 3rd century. Its closest linguistic contemporary would be Cornish and then, Welsh.

With the political centralization of France having grown, and the existence of the Toubon Law , which mandates the French language to be used in all official government related areas, secure, it is very clear that French is established as the language for public use and education.
