How to use Repetition in Learning Spanish

Learning a foreign language like Spanish requires you to practice a lot. It is similar to learning how to play an instrument or even a new sport. The more effort you put into practicing what you learn, the better you get. As they say practice makes perfect. When you learn something new like Spanish for instance you use your brain and so the more you refresh your memory the more likely you are to remember.

Frequently repeating a Spanish word or phrase is an excellent way of memorizing it. This is the method I used when I was a beginner in Spanish. I would repeat every single new word that I learned straight away even if I was by myself.

Using post-it notes on walls or on other objects you come across often in your home or work place is another great idea. It is very helpful since every time you see it, you will also see its Spanish translation. This method helped me to learn off by heart my bedroom furniture, things like the television, the door, window etc. This method really proved effective for me.

Learning a language be it Spanish or any other for that matter requires one to do so in stages. In order to move form one stage to the next, you must first master the previous stage. This is because you will be able to move on to the next one with ease and you will not keep going backwards. It is crucial to learn the Spanish language fast but also effectively. To be able to achieve this you have to use repetition.

If you find it difficult to conjugate a verb or phrase, write it down many times and say it out loud as well. A useful free Spanish learning resource by Sonny Sheth is OuterSpanish, you can visit the website http://www.outerspanish.com.

For a comprehensive approach to learning Spanish, you may wish to consider the Platiquemos DVD Course. Though based on the original Foreign Service Institute Spanish series, the Platiquemos course was completely revised and designed as a complete audio and text approach to learning Latin American Spanish fluently.
