Learning the Hebrew Alphabet is a challenge for most people. This includes students of the Bible, Bar and Bat Mitzvah students, among others. But it is the gateway to reading Hebrew texts which range from the Bible to modern Hebrew texts. Biblical Hebrew and Modern Hebrew both share the same alphabet.
A way to overcome the difficulties of learning Hebrew for most students , is by stressing basic concepts in speaking and understanding Hebrew, and not complicated grammatical rules that can confuse the novice.
One way of achieving this is by stressing easy to understand examples from the English sound system to explain and illustrate Hebrew sounds which may be unfamiliar to students. One course to consider is the Living Israeli Hebrew.
