Learning to read Biblical Hebrew opens up Biblical texts for study and also provides a strong basis for other Jewish texts like the siddur and even some selections of the Midrashim.
My introduction to Biblical Hebrew was partly through using Weingreen. This is a well known text which is a stalwart of Biblical Hebrew study. It can however be somewhat tedious to go through however especially for the person studying by themselves.
Nevertheless it is definately something to keep in and mind and whatever course you choose should be on your bookshelf. If you do need something a little more interactive, then Biblical Hebrew Software, may be something to consider. This program includes everything you need to master reading, writing, analyzing, and translating Biblical Hebrew
