Learning the Amharic Language can be Challenging

Anyone interested in learning has probably already realized that resources are limited.

The challenge increases in realizing that reaching proficiency requires the student to not only speak but read Amharic. With the Amharic language using a non Latin alphabet, this is an extra challenge. Amharic Language Course

The , a part of the U.S. State Department created a series of courses aimed at providing its diplomats and overseas personnel with practical Amharic proficiency.

The course we found is a CD ROM version of the course. The principal behind the course is guided imitation. The ultimate goal of the course is to speak the Amharic language easily. The course provides the student with all basic forms and patterns of the Amharic language by imitating the speakers in the audio portion. This is coupled with vocabulary memorization which allow the student to manipulate the basics and create a large number of sentences.Since Amharic is written in the Ge’ez alphabet.
