Most people familiar with courses produced by the Foreign Service Institute were familiar with Saudi Arabic Basic Course. Very few however, are familiar with the Saudi Arabic HeadStart course.

This course is geared for learning Saudi Arabic quickly. Conversation, dialogues and practical vocabulary are the focus of this course. Instead of a grammatical approach, the course focuses on scenario based language skills.

The illustrated course materials include a cultural guide. Each unit has different activities, including conversation and notes, exercises, and a self-evaluation quiz.

Unit by unit objectives for each module are stated at the start of the module, and each module has a vocabulary at the end. This course was developed by the Defense Language Institute for use in its own renowned language school and has now been re-released.
