Scotland youngsters to make a trip to China

Our Lady’s High School, Cumbernauld has arranged for a visit to China this summer, which is going to be of two and a half week study trip. It is predicted that more than fifty students from Scotland are expected to visit China for studying Chinese culture as well as language. The language classes are scheduled in the morning and the cultural activities are programmed in the afternoon session each day. This trip was announced by the education secretary of the school, Fiona Hyslop.

It is the central point to study Chinese language in the sixth of eight “hub” operations that are going on in Scotland. It is also become a new trend in schools to learn different languages and children opt for learning Spanish and studying Spanish as well as learning French and studying French as well. There are other languages of interest like learning Amharic, learning Japanese and many others. Studying Japanese language and culture is also taking up popularity day by day.

According to Ms. Fiona Hyslop, the increasing sway of China on the international community has made them include the visit to China in order to learn Chinese language and culture. She also said that this would help the students to have an open global approach and would be able to understand the position of Scotland in the world clearly. Also giving the students an opportunity to learn Chinese at such an early stage in life will help them in future. The students are going to learn Mandarin Chinese language too during their cultural activities sessions.
