While a child has the unique advantage over an adult in learning a new language, teaching a foreign language to a child outside of a fluent context does have challenges. The case of a father or mother who are both fluent in several languages and expose their children to them are in a different position that those that might not have that fluency, but may nevertheless want their children to get a head start on learning a new language.
A noteworthy tool for keeping children interested and motivated in their study is EuroTalk’s Vocabulary Builder program. The series is available for a variety of languages and the video below features the Spanish version. The course is easy to use, inexpensive, and while basic in content, insures that the child or adult builds a 100 word vocabulary. Visit Spanish Vocabulary Builder
